Alphabet Of Brooke Shields

April 23, 2007 at 12:11 pm (Alphabet Of Brooke Shields, Brooke Shields Alphabet)

I’m pretty excited at the moment – I saw another Brooke Shields Alphabet this weekend – odd though as it was in some back street in Belgravia which is kind of a random posh place to see something like this – anyway I got home and did another google search and found a little piece on the Londonist about it. Turns out someone has set up a flickr group for it. The best thing is that the dude who set up the group has mapped all of the sightings on google maps – wooot – I love it when stuff like this comes together. Anyway I don’t know whether its some viral campaign or just somebody who thought the words sound fun together – I think it might be the latter – kind of remindsme of the sports rave poster I saw the other day – the words sound great together but what the fuck is a Sports Rave????????

The other day when the Alanis ‘My Humps’ video came out I started looking at the most viewed videos on youtube and found this. Not only and amazing viral but potentially and amazing use of those moving poster display thingys.

Second Life Marketing Stuff

April 19, 2007 at 9:28 am (Second Life)

Here’s a little article written by Wagner James Au, who writes New World Notes, about marketing in Second Life. Interesting how he mentins how most people don’t respond to the brand initiatives however SL residents continue to create their own huge events / brands. I think this bounces back to what Gerd Leonhard (and everyone else is saying) about consumers becoming producers or as he put it ‘the deers have guns’.

The Future Is (Y)Ours

April 18, 2007 at 6:53 pm (Future Of Music, Gerd Leonhard)

So I’ve just been watching these videos of Gerd Leonhard, he who wrote The Future Of Music. They’re really interesting but most of all I love his photos and terms of phrase that uses in the power point presentation – I can’t use PP but I wish I could. You can download the PWC report on Lifestyle Media here. The videos must be a few months old otherwise I’m sure he would have mentioned EA’s new music venture Artwerk. Especially as it ties in with the whole ‘Airplay’ / ‘Netplay’ idea – however he does talk about, in his book, songs that are pre-released on EA games that receive more plays than had they been A-listed at radio – perhaps this should be called ‘Gameplay’.

Me and my big CV

April 10, 2007 at 8:47 pm (Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve, Erol Alkan, Midlake, Peter Bjorn and John)

So I recently put my Myspace, Linkedin and blog links onto my CV – I hate CV’s at the best of times – consolidating your life’s work onto 2 sides of A4 just seems wrong – how do you express the highs, the lows the stress, the time you saved some event by borrowing your mate’s pencil and turning it into a projector only to find that you needed to use your shoelaces and belt to power the damn thing – anyway – my Dad wisely pointed out that if I was going to put my blog on my CV I’d better update it now and again – so here we are.

Erol Alkan is one of those DJs that I never ever see – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him once – he’s huge of course but he plays in clubs where people get fucked and thats not me – give me the hype machine and a cup of cocoa and I’m as happy as larry – anyway he’s got some new remix team thats him and some dude – its meant to be all proggy and 60’s pagan something or other – beyond the word Wizard and some reverse guitars it pretty much sounds like that Danger Mouse remix of Zero 7 from a few years back but hey who’s counting – I like it.

Alanis Morissette – My Humps

Seriously – maybe the best thing ever.

April 2, 2007 at 8:31 pm (The Teenagers)

So I went to see The Teenagers the other night – it was such a ‘scene’ – they’ve been doing a bunch of remixes of late and lots of people have been talking about them but its been ages since I’ve seen so much hype come to nothing. I mean Homecoming is a great song but seriously they kinda sucked – it sounded like any other janky young fashion band. Download Homecoming, its a great song, maybe like a 2007 Shoreditch version of ‘Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus – but yeah I can’t promise I’ll be writing about these guys again.

UPDATE: Thanks to Tom for sorting me a proper picture – the mental gif I had from their myspace was …well…mental.

Rider / Badges and ways to make work more fun

April 2, 2007 at 2:24 pm (Badges, Riders)

Morale at work has always been something thats interested me – not to sound like a dick but whenever I work in a team I end up being the morale booster or motivator (there’s probably a better term for this out there) so I always end up considering what brings people together and aids productivity blah blah. I’ve been thinking about this a lot more recently since Russell Davies pointed me in the direction of  the  Order Of The Science Scouts of Exemplary Repute and Above Average Physiques. I really like the idea of team badges and jackets. Something else I’ve been thinking about recently is Riders. Being on tour for a couple of weeks with about 8 bands makes you unable to forget about riders – they must be there and if not you either get an earful from the tour manager or the band might not play. I don’t see why only bands get to have riders – I’m pretty good at my job and I don’t see why I can’t have a rider – I’m going to make one and start sending it out with my CV – any suggestions for things that should be on there welcome – so far I have.

1 X Working Mac laptop with latest OSX, working printer connection, Limewire, Acquisition, Bittorrent, Firefox and a licenced version of the latest Offic.

1 X Not broken chair

2 X  Moleskine notebooks – 1 small, 1 large – both lined.

1 X Latte with 1 sugar (to be at desk by 10am)

1 X Large bottle of Evian.

There’s a bunch of other stuff that I came up with but I can’t remember it now – it would be cool if you had an assistant who could download all the music from your favorite mp3 blogs and put them in a folder everyday.

Anyway  for pure hilarity read Iggy Pop’s rider – its amazing.
